About this work
A large bouquet of pink and deep red wild roses fills a footed teal glass vase, with a smaller glass of matching roses beside it, on a white lace-edged tablecloth. A cobalt blue glass pitcher stands to the right, while slender birch trunks frame the scene on either side, with spikes of pink foxglove and a distant tree line and water beyond.
Layered pinks and crimsons of the roses, built up in thick, textured dabs, dominate the canvas against cool blue-greens of the foliage and birches. Even, bright daylight and the sheer density of blossoms give the arrangement a triumphant, festive presence.
