About this work
A gravel path curves through a Crimean park, flanked by tall palm trunks, a row of cypress trees, and a gnarled tree and boulder to the left. A still pond in the foreground mirrors the grass and foliage, leading the eye along the walkway toward a hazy row of conifers in the distance.
Dense black ink contours build every trunk and leaf in fine hatching, while translucent washes of coral pink and teal green sweep across the paper independent of the drawn forms, some faint graph-paper grid lines still visible beneath. The combination gives the sheet a hybrid quality between botanical study and colored overlay, graphic and slightly unreal in its lighting.
