About this work

A pale stone block stands nearby in the shadow.
Near-black browns fill the background, pierced by a narrow beam of warm light falling between the two men. Against this darkness the acid-green furniture reads almost luminous, its cartoonish shape at odds with the softly blended rendering of skin and clothing. The contrast lends the quiet, huddled pose a melancholic, dreamlike hush.
