About this work
A young woman in a striped top, cap and rose-pink scarf leans over bicycle handlebars, one hand steadying a bundle of bread and fruit strapped behind her. Her braided hair streams back as she rides, and her limbs blur into the bicycle frame, suggesting forward motion.
Pale, close-toned blues, pinks and ochres layer in soft gradients with almost no hard outline, so figure, bicycle and cargo seem to dissolve into one another and into the pale ground. The hazy, weightless handling turns a simple errand into a drifting, dreamlike moment.
