Thunder

A heavy, wind-torn sky dominates the composition, its dark blue-grey clouds swirling above a flat, shadowed field. A lone utility pole with a crossbeam stands near the horizon, and a narrow band of orange afterglow breaks through the clouds at the left, reflected in a strip of standing water on the ground.

Paint is built up thickly with a loaded brush and palette knife, the sky rendered in sweeping, overlapping strokes of blue, grey and violet that read as gathering wind. The land below stays nearly black, broken only by a few scratched highlights, creating a brooding, storm-approaching atmosphere.
