About this work
Two elongated shadows of standing figures stretch down a sunlit beach toward the viewer, crossing sand marked with footprints. One shades her eyes with a raised hand; the other leans close beside her. Beyond the sand, turquoise surf curls to white foam, with a sailboat and a canopied boat near the horizon.
The palette stays cool and bleached: chalky white and grey-blue for sand and shadow, aquamarine for the sea, with a warm ochre boat as the only accent. Bright, even light flattens the figures into long graphic silhouettes, and smooth brushwork is flecked with scattered rust and gold. The mood is quiet and meditative.
