About this work
Several cloth dolls with round, simply painted faces are grouped together - a girl in a green-dotted dress, a boy in a striped shirt, a red-haired doll and a plush teddy bear - flanked by a white toy goose and a bunny with tall ears. Two buckets and a small cup, all crammed with sharpened colored pencils, sit among them on a dark cloth, against a background patterned with pink roses and vines.
Soft violet and dusty green pastel tones unify the toys and floral wallpaper into one hazy field, broken by the bright primary colors of the pencils. The gentle blending and muted, twilight-like light give the arrangement a cozy, nostalgic, quietly playful charm.
