About this work
A pale violet, half-dissolved figure with a ruffled harlequin collar and sleeve stands against a mottled olive-gold ground scrawled with loose gold lines. Along the bottom edge, five small framed studies in muted rust and cream isolate body parts: an open hand, an ear, joined hands, a nose and a single eye.
The upper figure is painted softly, its features blurred as if seen through haze, while gold scribbles scratch loosely across the surface like handwriting. The lower row is painted more solidly, with firmer outlines around each fragment. The contrast between the fading figure above and the sharply cropped details below creates an unsettling sense of dissolving identity.
