About this work
A solitary humanoid figure stands full-length at the center of the sheet, its head a mass of scribbled dark hair, its torso and legs wrapped in crisscrossing looped lines like rope or bandages. Faint outlines of electrical pylons and a horizon line are scratched in at the top of the sheet, and the figure's lower legs dissolve into loose, scratchy dark marks.
The drawing is built entirely from expressive black ink lines and dry, scumbled marks on a stained, mottled paper ground, with no color beyond the monochrome ink. The loose, agitated linework and the figure's bound posture give the sketch a raw, unsettled feeling of restraint or suffering.
