The experiences of the minotaur

Six distinct faces are bunched together at the top of a long curling stem, their features overlapping so closely that cheeks and jaws merge into one another. The whole cluster sits inside a large looping contour that reads like a balloon or flower head, tapering down into a thin double-lined stalk that trails off the bottom of the sheet.

Fine, wiry pen lines define each face with quick, economical strokes, leaving the paper's mottled grey stains and spatter to stand in for shadow and depth. The repetition of near-identical profiles within one bulbous shape creates an eerie, dreamlike doubling, as if a single head were splitting into many.
