About this work
A large horned head fills the frame in close-up, its two curling horns framing a face built from human-like eyes, nose, and lips. Below the chin, a run of tightly pleated, striped folds suggests drapery or a garment collar, giving the creature a dressed, upright bearing rather than a purely animal one.
Dense cross-hatching builds the horns and hair into heavy dark masses, while the face itself is left in sparer, more open line so the human features read clearly through the surrounding texture. The combination of coarse, scratchy marks and a calm, direct gaze gives the portrait an unsettling, hybrid stillness.
