About this work

A tall silver teapot with an ornate lid, curved spout and handle stands on a draped white cloth. Beside it, three mandarins with green leaves attached are grouped together, with a fourth mandarin set apart to the right on the cloth.

The scene is dominated by cool metallic greys and warm oranges, the teapot's mirrored surface reflecting soft distortions of the surrounding cloth and fruit. Reflective highlights are rendered with crisp precision against the looser folds of drapery, and the mandarins' leaves add small notes of green. The effect is calm and meticulously observed, a classic tabletop still life.
