About this work

Three objects sit on a rumpled white cloth against a near-black ground: a russet pomegranate at left, an empty glass jar with a hinged wire clasp at centre, and two pale pears sealed inside a crinkled cellophane bag at right, each isolated enough to read its distinct surface and weight.

Rendered with tight, near-photographic precision, warm ochre and grey tones build volume under a single raking light that catches the jar's glass reflections and the bag's crackled plastic sheen. Brushwork is smoothed away, and the dark backdrop pushes the objects forward, giving the still life a hushed, contemplative quiet.
