About this work
An armless plaster torso stands on a tall easel-like stand beside a round mirror in a white frame, a wooden painter's palette, glass bottles, and a chunk of quartz crystal. Below, stacked drawers hold an old coffee grinder and a small lamp on the left, while a ceramic jug and ewers sit at lower right on a cloth-draped table.
The near-monochrome grey, white, and brown still life is sliced by sharp neon pink and cyan outline stripes that cross every object like a shifted double exposure. Flat, hard-edged brushwork and layered transparent grids give the quiet studio arrangement a restless, vibrating, almost electric energy.
