About this work
The composition is organized into flat, irregular blocks of color: a solid blue field top left, rough rust-brown and ochre passages with pitted, granular surfaces, and a broad orange panel on the right. Running through the middle, a stack of narrow horizontal bars in cream, yellow, green, red and orange reads like a row of objects glimpsed on a shelf or table.
Thick, encaustic-like layers of oil and acrylic build a heavily pitted, cratered surface across the earth tones, contrasted with the flat, smooth bars of saturated color. The warm rust and ochre ground set against cool blue creates a bold, tactile still life with a vibrant, energetic rhythm.
