About this work
A small grouping of objects, a stemmed glass, a narrow abstract vase-like form, and a cluster of orange-red rounded shapes suggesting fruit, sits on a pale plinth or shelf at the center of the composition. This still life is set within a larger field of rectangular color blocks in charcoal, olive and dark grey that fill the rest of the canvas, framing the small tableau in flat, geometric surrounds.
Dark, textured blocks of black, olive-grey and warm taupe dominate the surface, their edges cracked and worn, while the central plinth and objects are painted in smoother, paler tones that draw the eye.
