About this work
A tall baroque church rises frontally with a central drum crowned by gilded onion domes and a cross, flanked by smaller matching cupolas and slender towers. Rows of arched windows and pilasters pattern the pale blue and white facade, while two dark, rounded trees frame the building at left and right against an open sky.
Cerulean blue and white dominate the walls, set off by warm ochre and gold on the cupolas, all applied in bold, confident impasto strokes. Strong sunlight creates sharp contrasts between lit facade and shadow, and the energetic, direct brushwork gives the scene a vibrant, festive immediacy.
