About this work
A stairwell is seen from a landing, its flight of pale worn wooden steps rising to the right past a rust-streaked handrail, while a second flight of white-painted concrete stairs climbs at the back beneath a low ceiling. Green-painted walls run at dado height below white plaster, a small electrical box and orange doors punctuate the corridor, and cables trail loosely along the wall. No people appear in the passage.
A restrained palette of olive green, off-white and warm wood tones is handled with smooth, even brushwork that softens architectural edges into slightly blurred, almost photographic forms. Light is flat and even, without strong shadow, giving the space a documentary calm. The empty, worn stairwell, rendered with quiet precision, evokes the everyday, slightly weary atmosphere of a shared apartment building.
