About this work
A dancer sits with her back to the viewer, dark hair gathered up, one arm bent so the hand touches the back of her head. Her torso twists slightly, and a leg extends toward the right edge of the canvas. The surrounding space is left largely undefined, dissolving into a pale, atmospheric wall.
The canvas is dominated by teal, mint, and cream tones, applied in rapid, gestural strokes that leave the raw weave of the fabric visible. Dark accents mark the hair and bodice against the lighter ground, and a hint of pink flashes near the shoulder. The loose, unresolved handling gives the image an intimate, spontaneous feel.
