About this work
A curly-haired child angel kneels barefoot on a green tiled floor, grey-white wings folded upward behind its back. Dressed in a red tunic over a white undershirt, the putto cradles a lute, one hand plucking the strings and the other steadying the neck. A pearl-trimmed halo circles its head, and at left a length of black-and-gold brocaded drapery hangs in sharp vertical folds.
The warm gold background, ochre and sienna tones, and finely modeled flesh recall quattrocento panel painting reinterpreted in oil on canvas. Light falls softly across the rounded cheeks and chest, while the drapery is rendered with hard, engraved outlines and metallic sheen. Tender modeling combined with flat decorative pattern gives the scene a gentle, storybook charm.
