About this work
A muscular nude man is shackled by heavy iron chains to a dark rock outcrop, his head thrown back and mouth open in a scream as a huge eagle dives at him with talons bared and wings spread wide. The bird's beak and claws reach toward his exposed torso while his bound arms twist helplessly against the restraints.
A blazing streak of red cuts diagonally through a starry indigo sky flecked with blue and gold nebula-like clouds, throwing the eagle's brown and white plumage into sharp relief against the man's pale flesh. Paint is applied smoothly with crisp edges on the figures and softer, airbrushed gradients in the background, giving the scene a charged, painful intensity.
