About this work
Five ripe pomegranates are arranged in a line on a dark wooden ledge, two of them cracked or cut open to reveal dense clusters of glistening red seeds spilling onto the surface below, with loose seeds scattered across the foreground.
Painted in rich reds, oranges, and warm browns against a near-black background, the fruit's glossy skins and translucent seeds are rendered in smooth, tightly blended brushwork with strong directional light that creates bright highlights and deep cast shadows. The close cropping and saturated warm palette give the still life a dramatic, almost theatrical intensity.
