About this work

Two onion-shaped towers with oxidized green-copper domes anchor a cluster of cream stucco buildings roofed in weathered red tile. Arched doorways and shuttered windows line the ground floor, and a stone urn sits atop the nearer dome's balustrade. A patch of lawn and a dark tree occupy the foreground, with a bright sky of piled white clouds filling the upper half of the canvas.

Loose, confident brushwork builds the stucco walls in creamy whites and ochres, with quick strokes of verdigris and rust for the domes and roofline. Cast shadows are cool blue-grey, sharpening the sunlit architecture against soft, blended clouds. The overall effect is calm and airy, an ordinary sunny day caught in crisp, realist detail.
