About this work
A small medieval-style church with an arcaded tower and conical spire stands isolated at the center of the composition, set against steep, layered mountain ridges receding into the distance. A dark shrub and a modest outbuilding sit to the left, while dry grasses and rough stone walls fill the sunlit foreground.
Cool violet and grey tones dominate the mountains, contrasting with the warm ochre stone of the church under strong midday light. Loose, confident brushstrokes and visible canvas texture give the scene an open-air, sketch-like immediacy, evoking quiet mountain solitude.
