About this work
A near-black band across the top reads as a distant tree line or dusk sky, giving way to a pale misty strip and then a warm amber mass of grass flecked with white, as if frost or light catches individual stalks. Below, another soft haze settles over a pinkish-grey foreground where a few thin stems and small blue specks stand against the ground.
Warm ochre and amber sit between cool violet-grey passages, the transitions handled with soft, dragged brushwork and dry scumbling rather than hard edges. The horizontal layering and muted, twilight palette give the meadow a quiet, contemplative stillness.
