About this work
A tall aged building fills the frame, its dark brick and plaster front pierced by rows of arched windows and a ground-floor archway. To the right an adjoining wall is covered in torn, overlapping posters and fragments of printed text, while a bright hazy sky breaks through above the rooftops.
Layered, heavily textured paint in browns, dusty rose and ochre mimics grime, rust and peeling plaster, set against a near-black shadow in the upper left. The rough, collaged surface and muted light give the wall a worn, time-marked character.
