About this work
A large church dome and smaller cupolas rise above a row of waterside buildings with terracotta roofs, their forms softened and partly dissolved by mist. In the foreground, a red-and-white striped mooring pole and several wooden posts stand in calm lagoon water, with a dark building silhouette at the left edge. The composition centers on the hazy, luminous space between water and sky.
A muted palette of soft greys, warm beige and pale coral describes the buildings, while the dome shows cool blue-grey tones blending into the haze. Loose, blended brushwork dissolves architectural detail into atmosphere, creating a soft, glowing diffusion of light. The overall effect is quiet, misty and dreamlike, evoking the damp air over the lagoon.
