About this work
A dense, symbolic composition stacks fragmented faces, masks and outstretched hands around a central hybrid figure whose torso bears owl-like eyes and feathers below a woman's veiled head and an eagle's beak and plumage. Below, a snarling wolf and a winged, fanged creature emerge from an icy stair-like structure hung with dripping icicles, all set within a carved wooden frame shaped like a peaked roof.
Cold blue-greens and icy whites dominate, with small sparks of yellow, pink and violet breaking through the intricately patterned, almost mosaic-like surfaces of skin, feather and stone. Dense, decorative detail and a chilly, glacial palette build an unsettling, dreamlike atmosphere of myth and transformation.
