About this work
Three nude women sit around a large white bull skull with long curving horns at the center. One, veiled in white cloth, stands with arms raised beneath a gilded bull's-head emblem and a draped pink cloth; the other two sit to either side. Brass wind instruments, an old pistol, and scattered metal objects lie on the cracked green ground, with mechanical gears visible through dark archways behind.
Jewel-toned emerald green and magenta drapery contrast with the pale flesh tones and bone-white skull, painted in smooth, precise realist detail against darker mechanical recesses. Gilded lettering and symbols along the upper border add a cryptic, ritualistic note, and the cool light gives the whole scene an enigmatic, dreamlike stillness.
