About this work
Dense clusters of white and pale lavender lilac blossoms fill the canvas edge to edge, with no horizon or setting visible. Dark green foliage and patches of deep maroon and gold show through the gaps between the blooms, thickest at the top and fading toward the lower edges.
The high-key palette of whites and greys is broken by soft violet and green, applied in heavy impasto strokes and palette-knife ridges that mimic the texture of real petals. Light is diffuse and directionless, blurring the forms into a soft, hazy mass that feels immersive and quietly dreamlike.
