About this work
A hybrid figure - one side of its face a smooth white mask, the other a dark profile - wears a yellow bodysuit and fishnet leggings, arm raised with a dagger, an oversized bearded stone head mounted on a shield-like backpack behind it. It straddles an improvised vehicle built from a giant spoked wheel and tricycle frame, standing on rippled desert sand; in the distance a barred cage holds a fruit basket and a tiny robed figure beneath drifting clouds and a comet-streaked night sky.
Hyper-real modeling of skin, metal and fabric contrasts with the impossible, dreamlike logic of the scene, painted in luminous blues, ochres and violet-tinged clouds. Crisp edges and highlights build an eerie, theatrical stillness around the raised blade.
