About this work

In the foreground a young girl in a blue-and-white floral robe huddles against a tree trunk, arms wrapped around her knees, a white rabbit crouching nearby in the dry grass.
A muted palette of straw yellow, pale blue, and soft white is crossed by diagonal bands of light filtering through the bare trunks. The smooth, flattened rendering of the figures and the searching gesture of the blindfolded woman give the woodland scene a hushed, faintly ritual quality.
