About this work

Two hands are drawn close together, the fingers of one curling gently over the knuckles of the other in a loose, interlaced grip. The forearm of the lower hand extends into the foreground while the composition crops out any face or body.

Fine contour lines define the knuckles, veins and folds of skin, with soft graphite shading used sparingly to suggest volume between the fingers. The drawing is left partly unfinished at the edges, keeping the focus on the anatomy of the hands themselves, quiet and studious in feel.
