About this work
A dense stand of tall pines and mixed trees, touched with hints of autumn orange and yellow, lines the far shore of a still forest lake. A grassy bank with low reeds occupies the foreground, sloping down to the water, whose glassy surface mirrors both the treeline and patches of pale sky.
Layered greens, ochres and deep browns build the forest mass in short, textured pastel strokes, while the water is rendered with softer, elongated marks that blur the reflections. Cool sky-blue and white patches break across the lake's surface as warm daylight filters through the canopy, giving the scene a tranquil, softly luminous feel.
