About this work

A single bare foot stands on black ground at the base of a canvas divided into two panels, its skin rendered in warm ochre and pink. Curling green vines studded with white, rose-like blossoms wind up from the ground across both panels, set against a flat cobalt-blue field read as sky or water, with thin white drips trailing down the left edge.

The palette is reduced to a few notes - vivid blue, near-black, and white-and-green foliage - giving the composition a bold, poster-like flatness. Flowers are built from thick, rounded dabs of paint while the foot is more smoothly modeled, contrasting pattern with anatomy. The stark color blocking and oversized vines lend the still scene a quiet, dreamlike calm.
