About this work
A nude woman is seated with her back to the viewer, upper body turned slightly so one shoulder blade and the curve of her spine catch the light. Her arms are folded across her chest and her head bows toward her raised knee, her legs tucked beneath her on a heap of pale, rumpled bedsheets.
The composition plays warm flesh tones against a deep indigo wallpaper scattered with small pale blossoms, the pattern kept flat and decorative behind the softly modeled body.
