About this work
Two flamingos stand close together in shallow water at the center foreground, their pink plumage and long legs mirrored in the still surface. Behind them, dozens more flamingos dot grassy islets and the far shoreline of a broad, shallow lagoon, with low hills fading into haze along the horizon.
Soft greens, greys, and muted pinks are blended with loose, fluid brushwork that keeps distant birds as small dabs of color rather than distinct detail. Diffused, overcast light flattens shadows and unifies water and sky, producing a calm, quiet atmosphere typical of an early morning or misty day on the flats.
