About this work
A dark, shadowy figure stands in profile beside a horizontal wooden barre, her form barely distinguished from the surrounding grey. Behind her, a pale wall dissolves into faint circular and linear traces, suggesting a mirror or window in an otherwise empty rehearsal space, with no other figures or objects present.
The composition is built from thin washes of grey, blue, and green, scraped and dragged so that the wall and floor merge into one atmospheric field. Only the dark silhouette and the ochre-green line of the barre anchor the eye, creating a hushed, melancholic stillness around the single still figure.
