About this work
The composition stacks in horizontal bands: a pale grey sky, a low ridge of scattered green-brown scrub, and a broad tan dune sweeping down toward a teal diamond-mesh fence strung between two rust-streaked metal posts. Patchy grass and bare soil show through the wire in the lower half of the canvas.
Flat, unmodulated color fields and hard edges replace visible brushwork, giving the scene a graphic, poster-like simplicity. The muted palette of sand, olive and teal, with rust accents on the posts, sets the encroaching dune against the man-made barrier in a quiet, watchful mood.
