About this work
A nude figure is drawn crouched into a tight ball, knees pulled to the chest and one arm bent up to cradle the head. A breast is visible amid the coiled pose, and the feet tuck under the body, giving the figure a closed, protective silhouette against the empty page.
Dense webs of scribbled black ink build up the shaded areas of the body, with looser contour lines describing the limbs and a scatter of ink drops around the base. The furious, repetitive hatching and stark black-and-white contrast lend the drawing a tense, inward mood.
