About this work

In tight profile, a large raptor's head with a sharp hooked beak and heavy-lidded eye merges seamlessly into a bearded man's face, the two forms sharing a single feathered, haired silhouette. The hybrid head rests on clawed talons gripping a carved stone base, part sculpture, part living creature.

Executed entirely in fine pencil hatching and stippling, the drawing builds deep tonal contrast between the dense black plumage and the pale, sharply lit face. The meticulous linework and calm, watchful expression give the chimera a quiet, monumental intensity.
