About this work
A cylindrical white tower with a conical red-tiled roof and a small wrought-iron balcony anchors the left of the composition, joined by a long white building with dormer windows and a matching red roof stretching to the right. Below, a rough stone wall and a dark arched gateway span a stream, with slender trees and shrubs framing the scene.
Cool violet-grey clouds mass behind the warm terracotta roofs, creating a soft contrast of temperature across the sky. The masonry is built with loose, confident strokes and visible palette-knife texture, while deep shadow pools inside the archway below.
