About this work
Four or five rowboats with pale blue and white hulls are moored tightly against each other and a low stone quay, one bearing the registration 'KT 620' on its bow. Beyond them a paved waterfront, trees and low buildings recede into a soft, hazy distance.
Cool blue-greens in the water contrast with the warm cream and ochre of the boats' timber benches, all built up in broad, confident strokes with touches of pure white for sunlit highlights. The close, overlapping composition and calm reflections create a quiet, intimate harbor mood.
