About this work
A slope of tall dried plants and grasses fills most of the composition, their stems and seed pods bending diagonally as if pushed by wind. Above, bare wiry stalks reach up into a churning, cloud-streaked sky that occupies the upper third of the canvas.
Rust orange and ochre dominate the foliage, threaded through with teal and green accents, all built up in thick, swirling knife strokes that echo the movement of the plants. The dynamic diagonal composition and restless sky give the painting an agitated, wind-driven energy.
