About this work
A weathered stable with a corrugated roof stretches across the composition, its window openings crowded with horse heads of different colors looking out. Two sheep stand near the open door, and at the right a boy in a red shirt digs into a mound of dark earth with a long-handled shovel, a hilly coastline and distant buildings receding behind him.
