About this work
A paved path curves away into blackness at the center of the composition, its low white curbs visible in the foreground where the road appears to split in two directions. A single lamppost stands at left, its light spilling over a dark, bushy tree beside it, while a second faint post glows dimly in the distance.
Deep blacks and muted greens dominate, applied in soft, blended strokes that dissolve the far distance into shadow. The single pool of lamplight against the surrounding dark gives the empty junction a hushed, contemplative stillness, as if a choice were waiting to be made.
