About this work
The composition reads as an extreme close-up of a cratered, weathered surface: countless small irregular patches of stippling, hatching and fine cracking cover the canvas edge to edge, thickening toward a faint spiral motif just left of center and softening into paler patches near the top and left corners.
Rendered almost entirely in rust brown, taupe and grey with occasional pale highlights, the painting relies on subtle tonal shifts between adjacent micro-patterned cells rather than strong contrast or line. The result is a quiet, weathered surface, evoking the pitted skin of a tumbling asteroid or a piece of ancient stone.
