About this work
A domed church with a tented central tower and clustered onion cupolas stands centered behind a wide stone staircase flanked by circular-patterned balustrades and low walls. Two rounded, dark-clipped trees stand symmetrically on either side of the steps, framing the view toward the entrance; no figures appear in the scene.
The palette is limited to a pale ivory ground washed with soft blues and violets that model shadow and form, giving the church an almost translucent, ghostly presence. Delicate linear detail describes the cupolas and ironwork, and the hazy, muted rendering produces a hushed, dreamlike architectural study.
