About this work

Seen from indoors past a polka-dot curtain and a potted aloe plant on the sill, a double window frames a plowed field furrowed with dark, snow-dusted ridges receding toward a cluster of snow-covered village houses under a pale evening sky. A luminous, robed figure glows faintly among the furrows, with gold Church Slavonic lettering reading 'holy angel' inscribed just above it.

Warm interior browns of the curtain and sill give way to cool blue-grey twilight outside, the glowing figure the only source of warm light in the distance. Long diagonal furrows are built with thin, streaky strokes that lead the eye toward the apparition, lending the quiet domestic window scene a hushed, devotional stillness.
