About this work
Layered rectangular and triangular planes in warm grays and umbers are crossed by scored diagonal lines, small crosses, and scattered tally-like marks. A column of stenciled capital letters runs down the right edge like crate or shipping-label lettering, and a small red-orange mark breaks the muted surface near the top.
The palette stays restrained to grays, taupe, and near-black, with the one warm accent standing out. Dry, scraped and incised strokes over the painted ground give the surface a graphic, worn quality, and the flat, non-representational composition carries an austere, quiet, weathered feel.
